TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) reviews are typically the longest lead item on a new project so getting a design together early on and getting it submitted is key in sticking to your timeline.

Driveway permits are more straightforward in that the allowable spacing and design is very clear in the TXDOT manual. A sit down with the reviewer can ensure that the engineer is interpreting the requirements correctly and is proposing an allowable spacing and dimensional design, but if the requirements are followed the site will typically be permitted.
Drainage can be more difficult in that the TXDOT criteria manual states different requirements than the review may provide. Many times the DOT will determine that only a certain amount of developed frontage can contribute to the allowable flow rate which drastically affects the sizing of the pond. Determining this very early on can help the developer determine if the site is feasible with these restrictions.
